Neuro-Rhythmic Rehab Music Therapy LLC. is a music therapy private practice based in Lakeland, Florida that specializes in providing high-quality Neurologic Music Therapy® services to adults with neurorehabiitation, memory care, functional maintenance, pulmonary function, and quality of life needs in both group and individual settings. All of our sessions are tailored to each individual or group we serve in order to achieve functional, non-musical goals through the use of the incredibly powerful stimulus of music.

Neuro-Rhythmic Rehab Music Therapy’s mission is to:

Music therapy is a clinical and evidence-based practice where a Board Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC) implements individualized therapeutic musical interventions in order to address non musical goals. MT-BCs are trained to serve a wide variety of populations and might address many different needs, such as cognition, communication, motor skills, anxiety, depression, end of-life, pain, and more. MT-BCs might work in various environments, including but not limited to hospitals, rehab facilities, nursing homes, schools, hospice agencies, and private practices. MT-BC requirements:
  • completion of a Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in music therapy at an institution with an approved music therapy program
  • completion of 1200 clinical hours (including a required 6 month full-time, clinical internship)
  • passing score on the national board certification exam given by CBMT (Certification Board for Music Therapists)
  • maintenance of the board certification through the completion of music therapy continuing education credits every 5 years

Neurologic Music Therapy (NMT)® is a branch of music therapy that focuses on the intersection  of neuroscience and music and prioritizes functional outcomes through the use of therapeutic  musical interventions. Neurologic Music Therapists implement a research-based system of  standardized, clinical techniques to reach the functional, non-musical goals of those with  cognitive, communicative, motor, and psychosocial deficits due to neurologic injury or disease.  Learn about what it takes to receive the designation of NMT® below!

NMT® requirements:
  • maintenance of the MT-BC credential
  • completion of the advanced professional training given by the Academy of Neurologic  Music Therapy®
  • completion of NMT® continuing education credits every 5 years
  • regular attendance at regional NMT® support chapter meetings

Lauren Simeon, MM, MT-BC, NMT

Lauren received her Bachelor’s degree at College of the Holy Cross in Massachusetts where  she obtained a Major in Music and Minors in both Neuroscience and Dance. She then received  her Master’s degree (Master’s of Music-Music Therapy) at The Florida State University where  she studied in the Equivalency/Master’s Music Therapy program and wrote her Master’s thesis  on Rhythmic Auditory Stimulation (RAS)® and gait training. Lauren completed her clinical  internship at Tampa Bay Institute for Music Therapy, a music therapy private practice located in  Tampa, FL. She became a Board Certified Music Therapist in 2022 and has also completed  specialized and advanced professional trainings and received the designations of NICU-MT  (National Institute for Infant and Child Medical Music Therapy) and NMT® (The Academy of  Neurologic Music Therapy®). 

Lauren has worked as a music therapist at hospitals in both Florida and Alabama and has  experience with teen, adult, and geriatric patients in the following settings/service areas:  General Inpatient Acute Care, Neuro, Trauma, Inpatient Rehab, Cardiopulmonary, Oncology/ Hematology, Palliative, and Inpatient Psych. Lauren’s special interests and passions within the  field of music therapy are working with those with neurologic injuries and disease and  advocating for the profession. She currently serves on the Florida Music Therapy Task Force.  Lauren is very excited to be able to raise awareness and bring NMT® services to her home city  of Lakeland and the surrounding areas!
